HVAC

Heating, ventilation and air-conditioning delivered and maintained to optimise comfort, performance and energy use.

Comfort that does not cost the earth — or the budget.

The problem

HVAC is usually the largest single electrical load in a commercial building and the first thing occupants complain about. It is also the system most often left running against itself — cooling a space while heating the one next door, or holding a setpoint in an empty building all weekend. Fixing the controls frequently saves more than replacing the plant.

What we do

HVAC: the scope in detail.

01

Delivery and installation

Supply and installation of heating, ventilation and air-conditioning solutions sized to the actual load, with the electrical infrastructure to support them.

02

Maintenance and servicing

Planned servicing that keeps units at rated efficiency — filters, coils, refrigerant, drainage, belts and controls — instead of waiting for a breakdown in the middle of summer.

03

Controls and scheduling

Automated controls, zoning and scheduling so plant runs when the building is occupied and stops when it is not.

04

Performance optimisation

Measuring what the system actually consumes and tuning it, with thermographic and metering data behind the recommendation.

What you receive

Not a promise. A document.

  • Installed and commissioned HVAC plant with test data
  • Planned maintenance schedule and service records
  • Control and scheduling configuration document
  • Energy performance baseline before and after optimisation

Standards we work to

  • SANS 10400-O — lighting and ventilation
  • SANS 10147 — refrigerating systems including plants for air-conditioning
  • Manufacturer commissioning and servicing specifications
  • SANS 10142-1 for all associated electrical work

Typical timeline

Servicing runs on a scheduled cycle agreed up front. Installations and replacements are programmed around occupancy, with critical-space work moved out of hours.

Questions

Asked often.

Is it cheaper to repair or replace an old unit?
We give you the arithmetic rather than a preference: current consumption, expected consumption after replacement, repair cost, and the payback period. Sometimes the honest answer is to keep the plant and fix the controls.
Do you service HVAC you did not install?
Yes. We take on existing plant, start with a condition assessment so both parties know what we inherited, and then put it onto a maintenance schedule.
How does HVAC affect my energy bill?
In most commercial buildings it is the largest controllable load. It is also the one where scheduling and control changes produce savings without any capital spend, which is why our energy audits look there first.
