Low Current Systems

Integrated low-voltage solutions including CCTV, alarms and security systems, plus the data and communication infrastructure modern facilities depend on.

The problem

Security systems are usually bought in pieces: cameras from one supplier, alarm from another, access control from a third, and network cabling from whoever was on site that week. The result is a site with four systems, four apps, four support numbers and no single view. Low current works best when it is installed as one system by the team that also owns the power feeding it.

What we do

Low Current: the scope in detail.

01

CCTV and surveillance

Camera layout, installation, recording and remote monitoring designed around actual sightlines and risk points rather than a camera count.

02

Alarms and security systems

Intrusion detection, perimeter protection, access control and integration with monitoring and response.

03

Data and communications

Structured cabling, network infrastructure, racks, containment and fibre backbone for facilities that now depend on connectivity as much as on power.

04

Integration

Bringing security, access, fire and building systems onto shared infrastructure with one accountable installer.

What you receive

Not a promise. A document.

  • Installed and commissioned CCTV, alarm and access systems
  • Structured cabling with labelling and test results per outlet
  • Network and rack layout documentation
  • System handover pack with user training

Standards we work to

  • SANS 10142-1 for associated electrical supply and containment
  • Structured cabling performance standards for the installed category
  • SANS 10139 where security systems interface with fire detection
  • POPIA considerations for surveillance and recorded footage

Typical timeline

Cabling and containment are best installed during construction or refurbishment. Retrofit installations are scoped per building, with cable routes surveyed before quoting.

Questions

Asked often.

Can you integrate with security systems already on site?
In most cases yes. We assess what is installed, what it can talk to, and where the gaps are, then integrate rather than replace where the existing equipment is sound.
Does CCTV create POPIA obligations?
Recording identifiable people is processing personal information, so signage, retention limits and access control over footage all matter. We install the system to support those obligations; the operating policy remains the building owner's.
Why use an MEP contractor for network cabling?
Because containment, power and cable routes are the same problem. When one team owns the electrical reticulation and the data infrastructure, cables get segregated properly and nobody drills through someone else's work.
